We are specialized in Anger Management Training programs


ADOLESCENTS

Adolescent Anger Management is a particular focus and specialty of the Anger Management Institute. AMI uses a comprehensive anger management curriculum designed specifically for adolescents. Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Recognize the role of individual responsibility in changing their unacceptable behavior.

  • Utilize a working understanding of anger/stress patterns and responses.

  • Identify and manage “situational anger” thereby avoiding angry responses and aggressive behavior.

  • Eliminate or minimize person-directed aggression.

  • Learn how to prevent confrontations and incorporate new coping skills to handle stress, and other negative feelings.

  • Employ communication skills and listening techniques to enhance interpersonal relationships.

  • Recognize the mood of persons with whom they must interact, and respond in a manor that will to improve rather than impede positive interactions.

Adult

The Anger Management Institute classes teach adults how to deal with their stress and anger or someone else's stress and anger in a positive, functional way. Participants may include people who act out verbally or behaviorally towards friends, family, work or personal relationships.

Our adult program is specifically designed to help clients who have been referred by courts, businesses and government agencies and self –referral. Often courts, businesses and governmental agencies are under pressure to use evidence-based anger management intervention. Our model provides an assessment component that is meets this requirement. We are able to assess the success or lack of success in each case.

The Anger management Institute is an emotional intelligence based practice. We use with all of our clients the BAR-on 2.0 emotional intelligence assessment as a pre and post assessment which is able to identify 15 behaviors strengths and weaknesses as well as communication and confidence levels.

All AMI Anger Management Training programs include:

  • Assessment at intake of the participant's level of function in stress management, anger, communications and emotional intelligence.
  • The use of two client workbooks, which include didactic information and exercises focusing on enhancing emotional intelligence, improving assertive communication, and behavioral strategies for recognizing and managing anger and stress.
  • Post-test at termination designed to determine the level of change during the course.

Organizational Training

In order to compete in a rapidly shifting economy, any business must invest in its people power. Successful businesses in the future will focus on developing healthy communication and effective leadership.

AMI’s curriculum uses industry and company-specific examples to integrate your organizational terminology. Tailored for the human resources professionals in your company to improve their approach to anger management issues,

The Assessment

The EQ-I 2.0 is a map that provides a participants level of functioning in 15 behaviors including anger, stress, communication and emotional intelligence. This tool provides vital information about workplace achievement, relationship success, professional achievement, and positive personal change.

The EQ-I 2.0 is a Level B instrument and is scientifically validated and therefore considered a consistent and reliable assessment.

Instructional Program

The AMI curriculum consists of four components:

Part 1: Anger Management

  • Know the “Constructive vs. Destructive Wheels” of Interactions.
  • What it means to be angry.
  • What causes anger.
  • Learn your specific physiological response to anger.
  • Understand yourself and gain better control.
  • Learn how to diffuse the cycle of anger before it stops you.

Part 2: Stress Management

  • Understand signs of stress.
  • Define causes.
  • Identify and recognize symptoms.
  • Determine destructive perceptions and attitudes.
  • Change destructive patterns.
  • Learn to manage stress effectively.
  • Develop a stress-resistant personality.
  • Use the Stress Log.

Part 3: Emotional Intelligence

  • Understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in high conflict situations.
  • Increase empathy for the feelings and reactions of others.
  • Identify your negative feelings, thoughts, and attitudes.
  • Learn to recognize patterns in your behavior and the behavior of others.

Part 4: Communication

  • Complete a Self-Assessment.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to great communication.
  • Improve listening skills, and resolve conflict.
  • Speak successfully in high-conflict situations.
  • Manage negative feelings that arise in high conflict communication. Understand your needs and communicate them with clarity.
  • Tell people what you want, think and feel without hurting their feelings.
