The Assessment

The Conover Assessment, is a map that provides a baseline of the participant’s level of functioning in recognizing and managing anger, stress, communication, and emotional intelligence. This tool provides vital information about work place achievement, relationship success, professional achievement, and positive personal change.

Instructional Program

The AMI curriculum consists of four components:

Part 1: Anger Management

  • Know the “Constructive vs. Destructive Wheels” of Interactions.
  • What it means to be angry.
  • What causes anger.
  • Learn your specific physiological response to anger.
  • Understand yourself and gain better control.
  • Learn how to diffuse the cycle of anger before it stops you.

Part 2: Stress Management

  • Understand signs of stress.
  • Define causes.
  • Identify and recognize symptoms.
  • Determine destructive perceptions and attitudes.
  • Change destructive patterns.
  • Learn to manage stress effectively.
  • Develop a stress-resistant personality.
  • Use the Stress Log.

Part 3: Emotional Intelligence

  • Understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in high conflict situations.
  • Increase empathy for the feelings and reactions of others.
  • Identify your negative feelings, thoughts, and attitudes.
  • Learn to recognize patterns in your behavior and the behavior of others.

Part 4: Communication

  • Complete a Self-Assessment.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to great communication.
  • Improve listening skills, and resolve conflict.
  • Speak successfully in high-conflict situations.
  • Manage negative feelings that arise in high conflict communication. Understand your needs and communicate them with clarity.
  • Tell people what you want, think and feel without hurting their feelings.
