The AMI curriculum consists of four components:
Part 1: Anger Management
- Know the “Constructive vs. Destructive Wheels” of Interactions.
- What it means to be angry.
- What causes anger.
- Learn your specific physiological response to anger.
- Understand yourself and gain better control.
- Learn how to diffuse the cycle of anger before it stops you.
Part 2: Stress Management
- Understand signs of stress.
- Define causes.
- Identify and recognize symptoms.
- Determine destructive perceptions and attitudes.
- Change destructive patterns.
- Learn to manage stress effectively.
- Develop a Stress-Resistant Personality.
- Use the Stress Log.
Part 3: Emotional Intelligence
- Understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in high conflict situations.
- Increase empathy for the feelings and reactions of others.
- Identify your negative feelings, thoughts, and attitudes.
- Learn to recognize patterns in your behavior and the behavior of others.
Part 4: Communication
- Complete a Self-Assessment.
- Identify and remove roadblocks to great communication.
- Improve listening skills, and resolve conflict.
- Speak successfully in high-conflict situations.
- Manage negative feelings that arise in high conflict communication. Understand your needs and communicate them with clarity.
- Tell people what you want, think and feel without hurting their feelings.
